Social Responsibility

In summer of 2019, Lakeshirts/Blue 84 became one of the less than 40 companies to be accredited by the Fair Labor Association via our stringent process of reviews and audits of processes, facilities, practices, and business relationships.

FLA accreditation means that Blue 84 and our production partners have been found to abide by labor practices that the FLA deems as both fair and compliant with basic human rights.

Accreditation by the FLA is an intensive process and we couldn’t be more proud of the formal recognition. That being said, our compliance with the FLA’s standards isn’t something we do because we want their formal accreditation. We meet their standards, often of our own volition, because it is the right thing to do.

Our core values of Community and Team aren’t just how we talk. It’s how we walk. Join us.

We take respect for human rights and compliance with labor laws very seriously. Our responsibility means conducting business in a socially responsible and ethical manner, supporting human rights and engaging, learning from, respecting and supporting the communities and cultures with which we work. We will ensure all matters of SR are considered and supported in our operations and administrative matters.

As a requirement of our relationships with Fair Labor Association affiliated universities and colleges, Lakeshirts has received accreditation with the Fair labor association (FLA) and has adopted a code that meets or exceeds FLA Workplace Code of Conduct. We select business partners based on their shared commitment to our ethical practices and ensure that they agree to our detailed standards of business conduct. That includes not only compliance with labor standards, but also execution of periodic factory audits to ensure that specified requirements are indeed being met.

We seek to be a leader in these areas through our words, conduct, and actions. We feel it is important, and where applicable, we invite you to join us. All Lakeshirts employees and contractors will adopt the CSR considerations described in this policy into their day-today work activities. Lakeshirts leaders will act as role models by incorporating those considerations into decision-making in all business practices.

OUR SR POLICY

In alignment with our company’s Value of Community, Lakeshirts recognizes as a fundamental right of all workers and a core support for economic and social justice. Accordingly, we are committed to working with the Fair Labor Association (fairlabor.org) to uphold that right. As such, Lakeshirts adopts subscribes to the FLA’s code of conduct and is committed to establishing fair compensation for all workers industry wide. Fair compensation enables every worker to earn enough in weekly wages, without overtime, to allow the worker to support themselves and at least two family members, plus enough to also save for their future. The FLA uses wage benchmarks as guideposts to understand workers’ wages in specific countries and regions. These guideposts are a tool for companies to determine fair compensation progress. Lakeshirts is working with the FLA to develop our fair compensation blueprint, which, upon completion, will serve as an operational action plan to drive living wage progress for all workers who contribute to the success of Lakeshirts in its supply chain.

FAIR COMPENSATION

Lakeshirts will ensure that employees are treated fairly and with dignity and consideration for their goals and aspirations and that diversity in the workplace is embraced.
